“If we want to see change in our lives, we have to change things ourselves.” ~Grace Lee Boggs

As captured by the quote above, I believe that active involvement in policy and advocacy is my responsibility as a researcher.

This page outlines my various non-profit, and state and federal advocacy experiences.

The Education Trust

Race, Disability, and Equity Fellow for the P-12 Policy Team of The Education Trust (National Office). Over the span of 15 months, I worked on a comprehensive research project that examined the experiences of Students of Color with Disabilities across EdTrust’s P-12 Policy Initiatives (Early Childhood Education, Resource Equity, Social Emotional and Academic Development, Teacher Diversity, College and Career Readiness, and Accountability). I created an internal document of state and national disability and special education organizations to support future collaborations. Additionally, I supported the formation of the Graduate Student Advisory Council, and presented to both national and state teams. I also participated in two annual EdTrust Bootcamp conferences and hosted a panel on Supporting Students of Color with Disabilities.

I am an alumna of the Asian Pacific American Institute of Congressional Studies, the non-profit and non-partisan partner organization of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus. Over the last decade, I have been involved with various programs by APAICS.

Kakehashi Project, 2023

The Kakehashi Project is designed to promote people-to-people exchange between Japan and the United States.  The program will provide participants with an enhanced understanding of Japanese economics, society, history, culture, politics, and diplomatic policies and encourage individuals to play an active role in the future of U.S.-Japan relations. This program is co-hosted by APAICS and the Japanese International Cooperation Council.

I was selected as a graduate student representative from the United States to Japan for cross-cultural diplomacy and policy training. I am also an Honorary Ambassador of Tourism for Iwate Prefecture.
